História deste spot
Dedicated as John F. Kennedy Plaza in 1967, LOVE Park became one of the defining landmarks of Philadelphia street skateboarding and East Coast skate culture. Its granite plaza, ledges, stairs, gaps and open lines gained international recognition through skate videos, photography, magazines, contests and video games. Skateboarding was formally banned in 1994, with broader restrictions introduced in 2000, although the plaza continued to hold deep cultural importance for generations of skateboarders. Before the final reconstruction, the City temporarily authorized skateboarding until February 15, 2016, allowing the community to skate the original plaza one last time. The historic skateable configuration was subsequently replaced during a complete redesign. The renovated public park officially reopened on May 30, 2018. The current plaza remains open to visitors, but skateboarding is prohibited. This record preserves the history and global influence of the original LOVE Park skate spot.
